More than just flowers for International Women's Day! 8 feminist gift ideas

Wand mit Post-It Stickern und dem Spruch "I am a woman on a mission to..."

March 8th is International Women's Day or feminist day. On this day, many people demonstrate for equal rights for FLINTA people. In many federal states, it is customary to give flowers on this day - but we can all agree that ephemeral cut flowers are not a strong sign against the patriarchy, right?

The greatest gift is always the support of feminist movements! On March 8th there are a lot of demos and actions where you can show solidarity. So here are 8 suggestions for gifts for March 8th:

🌸 1. Donate to feminist organizations or companies

Support organizations that work for women's rights, equal rights, or access to education and healthcare. Make these donations on behalf of your partner and tell them about the organizations and campaigns you have supported!

🌍 UN Women – Advocates for gender equality and women’s rights worldwide.

🌍 Malala Fund – Supports girls’ education worldwide.

📚 2. Feminist books

We are taught far too few facts about feminism in our everyday lives! That's why it's worth reading both classic and modern books about feminist history and current topics. Classics like "Invisible Women" by Caroline Criado-Perez or "The Origin of the World" by Liv Strömquist are always a good addition to your home library!

Here are a few more recommendations:

Why We Matter. The End of Oppression
Emilia Roig uncovers the patterns of oppression - in love, in marriage, at universities, in the media, in the courtroom, at work, in the health system and in the justice system. She encourages radical solidarity and shows - also using the history of her own family - how racism and black pride, trauma and Auschwitz, homophobia and queerness, patriarchy and feminism collide.

Robbed Women: Thinkers, Researchers, Pioneers: The Invisible Heroines of History - by Leonie Schöler

Muse, secretary, wife - there are many names for women whose influence has been erased from history. For whose achievements men received the awards and applause: female scientists whose achievements, unlike those of their male colleagues, were not recognized. Authors who hid behind male pseudonyms. Or artists who were forgotten in the shadow of their husbands. Historian Leonie Schöler tells her stories in a lively and entertaining way, she shows who the women are who have really advanced our society to this day. And she makes clear how important the discussion about participation and visibility is. It becomes clear: behind every successful man there is a system that empowers him; in front of all the others there is a system that holds them back.

Toxic Femininity: For a New Feminist Coexistence Hardcover Sophia Fritz

Something feels wrong: When we smile even though we actually want to argue. When we ghost our friends because we fear confrontation and want to avoid conflict. When we stand up for feminism but don't trust other women* and instinctively look for their mistakes and weaknesses. What is lurking in us as female-socialized people that makes us turn against ourselves and others again and again? In courageous self-examination, Sophia Fritz takes us to where it hurts and shows us a phenomenon that we are only just beginning to understand how much it determines our world: toxic femininity. The essay of the hour for all those who long for a new feminist coexistence, by one of the most creative and clear thinkers of the new generation.

Unlearn Patriarchy | Feminist Impulses for Ways out of Patriarchy Paperback

Although we now live in the 21st century, patriarchy still reigns. Why the hell is that? And what can each of us personally do to recognize and dissolve the often unconscious toxic structures? This anthology with well-known authors offers help. Defending yourself against patriarchy is particularly difficult in everyday life. Because many things are so familiar to us that we don't even question them. Even avowed feminists fall into the same traps again and again. We exclude women through language, follow outdated ideas of a happy nuclear family including traditional role models. Or we adapt to male-made and capitalist structures if we want to be successful in our careers. The contributors to the anthology UNLEARN PATRIARCHY report on their experiences and trace their own fatal thought patterns. They show how patriarchal patterns of behavior can be broken across all areas of society, from language and love to work, politics, education or identity, and a better life becomes possible for everyone.

♀️ 5. Art by feminist artists

Whether posters, postcards or sculptures – support artists who express feminist themes in their art.

🧼 6. Sustainable & fair self-care products

For example, give away period underwear, natural cosmetics from women-run businesses or massage oils from feminist brands.

💪 7. Workshop or course on self-empowerment

From self-defense courses to workshops on financial independence – give the gift of knowledge and empowerment!

♀️ 8. Products for sexual self-determination.

Most of the products have actually been developed for the male body, and brands like Satisfyer and Womaniser have only focused more on the female gender! Finding your own gift that will make the FLINTA* feel empowered in your environment is a great and communicative task!
But it is also worth investing in unusual toys; there are plenty of them to discover, from fantasy dildos, strap-ons or grinders!

We recommend our ginger spray. It promotes your desire and moisture, without any harmful substances and intensifies the experience.
